The Bernstein Cosmetic Surgery Clinic specializes in medical and surgical treatments intended to slow or reverse the aging process as well as other cosmetic treatments. Dr. Gerald Bernstein has been practicing dermatology, skin cancer surgery and cosmetic surgery in the Seattle area for near 40 years.

Aging is a result of many changes which are often unrelated and require several different treatments. Superficial aging consists of pigmentation, fine wrinkles, dilated blood vessels, redness, skin and the skin. Treatment for superficial aging can include dermabrasion, CO2 laser, Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), chemical peels, BOTOX® Cosmetic, Thermage®, bleaches, Retin-A, Obagi Nu-Derm treatment and sunscreens.

Deeper (or structural) changes in the skin result in aging which is usually unrelated to sunlight exposure. These are result of loss of fat and collagen. These can be treated treated with Fat Transfer(fat grafting), and filler substances such as Radiesse™, Restylane®, Sculptura, and others. Fat transfer, Radiesse, and Restylane can also treat the facial creases, furrows, wrinkles and facial hollows. Fine lip lines can be filled and even thinning lips can be made to look more youthful.

The Thermacool treatment, by Thermage Corporation can tighten lax skin. Thermage treatment is a noninvasive treatment requires no recovery. Thermage works heating the deeper collagen and producing thickening and tightening of the collagen.

The Contour ThreadLift can tighten lax skin with the use of finely barbed hypoallergenic threads. The Contour Threads are placed into the skin under local anesthesia and the recovery is usually rather rapid.

Liposuction or liposculpture using tumescent anesthesia with light sedation can successfully remove undesired disproportionate fatty deposits of the abdomen, thighs, legs, chest, chin and neck, and arms. Tumescent liposuction is especially good for diet and exercise resistant fatty deposits. Tumescent Liposuction has also been successfully used for breast reduction. In contrast to conventional breast reduction, Tumescent Liposuction is performed with minimal scarring and very rapid recovery. This is also true with Tumescent Liposuction of other areas of the body.

BOTOX® Cosmetic has been successfully used to treat frown lines, smile lines (crow's feet) and even deep lip and chin lines.

Facial blood vessels are treated with the KTP laser. The Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is used to treat unwanted hair on the face, armpits, bikini line, back, arms and legs. The The Intense Pulsed Light(IPL) is also used to treat pigmentation, redness and even fine wrinkles of the face , neck, torso. The Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is also used for nonablative facial rejuvenation to reduce fine wrinkles and scars.

Dermabrasion is one of the best treatments for facial acne scars as are fillers such as Radiesse™ and Restylane®.
